Brandt was raised and born in Cape Town, South Africa. She emigrated from Cape Town to Auckland New Zealand with her family in her late teens. Brandt was discovered in Auckland by casting directors, and was offered the role of Naevia on the Starz smash Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena. Lesley Brandt along with the other members of her family moved into Auckland New Zealand, in 1999.
